Follow the master’s traces
Klimt walk in Vienna
Last year, the world famous art nouveau exponent would have celebrated his 150th birthday. Up to this day you can follow his traces step by step on the Klimt walk.
The Kiss
The walk starts with Klimt’s most popular work. In the Belvedere gallery you can see one of the most influential paintings of the art nouveau era. The path begins with the artist’s “Golden Period”.
Karlsplatz
A beautiful square, where you can discover several things. Many ornaments on the buildings take you back the Klimt ear. The Vienna Museum at the Karlsplatz show many of the genius’ paintings.
Beethoven Frieze in Secession
The next stop on your walk is at Secession, which is located right opposite to Karlsplatz. Here you can see one of his most popular works: the Beethoven Frieze. With a width of 34 metres and a height of two metres, this piece of art is more than amazing.
MuseumsQuartier
The Klimt walk continues at MuseumsQuartier: here you can take a break and visit the several cafés. Afterwards the art path takes you to the Leopold Museum in the MuseumsQuartier. Klimt’s landscapes and one of his main work “Death and Life” are shown here.
Ceiling fresco
The Klimt walk ends at the Burgtheater. Klimt created impressive ceiling frescos in both of the hallways. At the Museum of Fine Arts you can also see some of his artistic marks – art pieces, which will fascinate you.
