Spanish Riding School

The Spanish riding school which is in direct proximity of the Hofburg, the former winter residence of the Habsburgs, is unique. It is the only place in the world, where the classical equitation in the Renaissance tradition of the "high school" has survived for over 430 years and has continued to be maintained without change. The elegant Lipizzaner –grey horse- and its riders are an international symbol of Viennese culture.

The horses have been bred for centuries at the state stud Piber, in Styria, and are trained for many years to achieve the perfect harmony between rider and horse. To accomplish this is the task of the classical equitation, as taught in the Spanish Riding School.

Apart from the shows in the Spanish Riding School , the stables as well as a Lipizzaner museum can be visited. We will gladly book your evening in the Spanish Riding School - so that you will definitely have the opportunity to see the legendary horse show in Vienna.
